Due to the promotion of our current Deputy Headteacher within the Trust, the Trustees of St Bartholomew’s CE Multi-Academy Trust are seeking to appoint an inspirational, values-driven and child-centred Deputy Headteacher to join the senior leadership team at Woodfield Primary School.


This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an ambitious and committed leader to build on the school’s many strengths and work alongside the Headteacher and Trust to shape the next stage of Woodfield’s journey of excellence.


About our School


Woodfield Primary School is a vibrant and sought-after Outstanding three-form entry primary school in Penn, Wolverhampton, educating approximately 650 children aged 3–11. Our team is passionate about creating an environment in which every child can excel, grow and feel truly valued, underpinned by our core values of Ambition, Belief and Courage.


Woodfield was judged to be Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted (February 2024). Achievement is strong, with 2025


end of KS2 outcomes well above national averages. Disadvantaged pupils’ attainment places the school in the top 25% nationally, recognised by the Secretary of State for Education through a commendation letter (February 2026).


The Role


As Deputy Headteacher, you will play a pivotal role in the strategic and operational leadership of the school.


Working closely with the Headteacher, you will help to sustain and further develop the school’s outstanding performance, leading key areas of school improvement and supporting staff to deliver exceptional outcomes for all pupils.


You will be an integral member of the senior leadership team, contributing to whole-school self-evaluation, improvement planning, curriculum development, staff development, safeguarding and the day-to-day leadership of a large, diverse primary school. You will also be the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.


This role offers an exceptional opportunity for a talented leader who aspires to headship or wider system leadership in the future.

  • strong strategic thinking, combined with effective operational leadership skills.

  • a continual desire to reflect on and improve their own leadership practice, engaging positively with coaching and support.

  • high expectations for the achievement, conduct and wellbeing of all pupils and staff;

  • the ability to build positive, professional and collaborative relationships with pupils, staff, parents, governors and Trust colleagues.

  • a commitment to upholding and promoting the Christian distinctiveness of the Trust.
